Apart from these external issues, information loss also occurs due to tiny internal factors like poor sectors, lost clusters, cross-linked files, and directory errors.

Here is a answer which you can attempt towards fixing disk information occurring due to these errors. Chkdsk (Chkdsk.exe) is a command-line tool that checks volumes for troubles. The tool then tries to repair errors that it finds. To use Chkdsk, you must log on as an administrator or as a member of the Administrators group. The Chkdsk reports exit codes soon after completing the task. If the exit code is 1 then no errors had been identified. If 1 then errors were located and fixed. If code is 2 then it means Disk cleanup, such as garbage collection, was performed, or cleanup was not performed simply because /f was not specified. If code is 3 then it implies that the system could not check the disk, errors could not be fixed, or errors had been not fixed since /f was not specified.

If disk corruption was due to poor sectors, lost clusters, cross-linked files, and directory errors then all will be repaired. If not, then possibly files are severely damaged. chkdsk may report lost allocation units on the disk – it will produce this report even if the files are in-use (open). If corruption is found, consider closing all files and repairing the disk with /F.Running chkdsk on a data volume that is in use by another program or process may incorrectly report errors when none are present. To avoid this, close all programs or processes that have open handles to the volume.
